After the success of our bouncing orange commercials for Tropicana with DDB, Loco was delighted to get to work with the brand’s new Canadian agency Juniper Park on their latest campaigns.

Tropicana’s brief was to introduce their new 89-ounce, family-size pitcher for Pure Premium, the first juice brand to have a 100% recyclable clear handle and flip top design.

Loco’s oranges return to the Florida orange grove setting of our original campaign and bounce into the new container. The challenge was to show 24 the oranges entering the bottle within the same time frame as previous commercials, which showed 16 oranges. The animation team worked to ensure the new commercial retained the energy and fun of the original bouncing orange campaign whilst getting all 24 the oranges into the bottle, before transitioning to a real world, live-action pouring sequence.

Tropicana wanted to show the new pitcher in action in a real world environment with a mother and child, so Loco’s production team organised a kitchen-based location shoot in the UK. As the commercial was for the North American market, we had to make sure it would resonate with consumers across the pond.

The end result was a great blend of CGI and Live action, seamlessly taking the viewer from the hyper-real grove, to a homely kitchen setting. Animation Director Danny Coster says, “this was very much a collaborative project with Juniper Park, Tropicana and Pepsico, in which the agency and client were kept abreast of all stages of the production via our online review and approval system, whilst we maintained the human touch with video conferencing for all our dailies. There were a few curve balls presented along the way such as the introduction of live action elements, but as an integrated production and post production facility, we were able to adapt our approach accordingly to ensure that the project hit all deadlines, budget, and hopefully exceeded clients’ expectations”.

Sharon Kosokowsky, the agency producer agreed, “I thoroughly enjoyed working with Danny and his team at Locomotion. Not only was Danny an affable fellow to work with, he was a creative problem solver and was always willing to make things work, meet demanding deadlines and create a quality end product. It was a real pleasure working with Danny and his team”.
